So dinner went well using up gammon steaks & fish from the freezer then using up veg from the weekend. Pudding was moose mixes which were from cupboard to use up.
So day 1 of plastic free was going so well, I spent the time in the garden preparing a veg patch and thought this patch could benefit from some manure!!! Passing the garden centre three bags of manure went in the car without thinking then!!! BOOM OMG THE BAGS ARE PLASTIC epic fail day one.
So I figure it’s harder to do this challenge than I thought but also I’m not letting that kind of thing trick me again either.
So I ran out of dish washer tablets, decided to make my own following a you tube video, made 10 then ran out of ingredients so I visited a supermarket. I found ingredients but all ingredients are in plastic packaging so I was unable to buy them. Tomorrow I will look to see if I can upcycle someone else’s ingredients or buy without plastic packaging what I need.
Bring on day two
This blog is of how I got on going plastic free throughout July 2019 and how I continued to reduce our household waste and remain plastic free. The journey has definitely opened my eyes on how wasteful our family weekly shop was and that Sustainability and living environmentally conscious has to be the overall goal. Educating the children in living a less waste way whilst being environmentally conscious can be achieved right on your door step without being drawn in to the big supermarket sales.
